So many homes, with a bare bulb hanging from the celing, could be drastically changed with some different fittings alone. There are two points to consider when improving the lighting in a room. First, the actual light emitted by the fitting. You might want a diffuse ambient light, or a very directional light, to achieve an effect. Second, the design of the light fitting itself.
